I am not a photographer by trade. But as a graphic designer it's often necessary to keep up on photography skills for various projects and mock-ups. This is a collection of photographs that didn't end up in any sort of product, but are products in and of themselves.
Sitting perfectly still in freezing water while waiting for the timer to go off was difficult. This one to me says how ridiculous man as a species is in comparison to nature. The shorts being such a contrasting color really makes a good focal point as well as driving home the ridiculousness of the photo.
This Picture was paired with the one below it, both showing contrasting emotions while using the same setting.
This one expresses that nature simply passes us by unawares. It is one of my favorite photos I've taken.
This is my wonderful wife being frustrated at me for taking her picture. I just happened to be at my desk editing photos in the middle of the night and saw that the light was hitting her in a beautiful way, so I had to take the shot. Her annoyance only added to a great photo opportunity.
Our firstborn. I was trying to capture the wonder of her new experiences.
The joy of being a new Father.
Everyone gets lost in their phones and it makes it so they can't see the world around them. It's unfortunate that the baby is also preparing herself to hold the phone to her face as well.
My favorite board game Root. This is actually a very unlikely scenario to happen in the game, but it makes for a dramatic photo.
A symbol of how severe depression feels. A constant contemplation of choice, whether to live or not to live.
